How to Eat green vegetables

“HI Dave. I am working on eating more plant based but I have never liked green vegetables and now my kids won´t eat them either. I understand how important they are for health so would like to find a way of both I and my kids eating them regularly. Any advice?”

This is quite a common problem as there are many who grew up not eating or liking green vegetables and now their kids are the same. I have worked with clients who never ate any vegetables as they said they hated them as kids. Most people don´t actually like green leafy vegetables like kale, spinach, broccoli and add to these celery, cucumber, wheatgrass etc. However it is so important to include such green vegetables in your daily nutrition plan as they are so important for energy and brain function and so much else.

For a while green smoothies and wheatgrass were popular and became a bit of a fad and the problem with fads is that they usually are only followed short term. What you need to focus on is longterm habit changes. Green based smoothies is how I personally get in my green leafy vegetables like kale and spinach as well as other green vegetables like celery , cucumber , wheatgrass and broccoli.

If you just have a green smoothie containing only green vegetables it is disgusting and you will never consume it regularly. I want you to consume a green based smoothie every day as it is so beneficial to your health. What I put in my daily green based smoothie is kale, spinach, cucumber, celery, wheatgrass, carrot, apple, banana, peanut butter and dairy free milk. Once you add fruit or even carrot to your greens it becomes alot more palatable and sweet and you will actually enjoy it.

So my advice to you is to start adding green vegetables to smoothies including your favourite fruits and you will find it easy to drink and you will be getting in your greens. Your kids will always love smoothies too.
