Will going Vegan help me lose belly fat fast?

I received a question: “Have been vegan for two weeks now. Feel amazing. I’m thin everywhere but have allot of belly fat, it’s so ugly and so visible when I wear tight fitting clothes. Please help. Will it go away soon now that I’m vegan, what should I do?”

The answer is yes and no. It all depends on what type of vegan you are. Are you a wholefood vegan who mainly eats real food? or a vegan who consumes mainly processed and junk food that is vegan? This is the most important question. The good news is that the answer is the first option you will experience a very positive impact on belly fat over time.

Fat, in particular belly fat, is largely created from a highly acidic diet and is for most part inflammation as the body protects itself. That is why when you start consuming wholefood plant based nutrition that is much more alkaline based the inflammation decreases and thus the fat levels in particular around the belly. Fat around the midsection is always a sign of bad health and an unhealthy lifestyle.

So focus on consuming mainly wholefoods and you will notice your belly fat decreasing as well as the many other benefits you feel living the vegan lifestyle.

So the most important lesson from this question is that a plant based lifestyle will positively impact your belly fat levels once you are consuming a diet with a wide variety of grains, legumes, fruit and greens. And make sure to consume good fat sources as well. And also in adopting a plant based lifestyle go at your own pace. Just make sure you are always makng positive changes.
