Power up the steep hill!

When I’m coaching endurance clients I always tell them to power up the steep hill and give it everything. This is what I’ve always done myself in training and races. This is a principle I feel applies to all hills in life. In training and races many hold a little in reserve while climbing. I say the opposite. Attack that hill and get it done and you can rest and take foot off pedal in the flat part of the road.

Why delay and draw out the painful part? Attack it. None of us likes pain and discomfort but in situations where you’ve no choice but to get over that hill to continue your path power up that hill. Procrastinating, burying head in sand, making excuses and playing blame game doesn’t take problems away. It prolongs the agony. While hard, hit those hills in life head on. Endure the pain they inflict but thrive on how you’ll grow from them.
